Warehouse in Africa
Teach a man to grow chickens and he will end the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Africa. Warehouse 242 has partnered with a new business launch in Zimbabwe, Africa, called LiveBirds to create an income generating activity (IGA). The hope of the partnership is to enable sustainable income for orphans and vulnerable children with HIV/AIDS in Odzi, Zimbabwe. This IGA partnership will be a catalyst to reduce poverty, drive sustainable, healthy living and as a result, fight HIV/AIDS in Zimbabwe.

What is an Income Generating Activity?
IGAs model the economic stability articulated by the “betterment to development” philosophy championed by Warehouse, and articulated by Robert Lupton, in chapter 7 of his book “Compassion, Justice, and the Christian Life: Rethinking Ministry to the Poor.” In short, this philosophy of charity reminds us to never do for someone else what they can do for themselves. Or as one leader shared, “The purpose of aid is to get people off aid.”
LiveBirds Art Exhibit Runs through Summer
An exciting opportunity to participate
Warehouse 242 has chosen to engage in the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Africa by supporting indigenous entrepreneurs who are building a self-sustaining business enterprise. Income promotes economic freedom, and economic freedom allows communities to better care for the real needs of real people—without constantly depending on foreign aid.
Warehouse 242′s art gallery reflects the spirit of this vision. Our current exhibit showcases original art from 18 artists from around the world, and it will run throughout the summer. Original art and digital prints will remain available for purchase in the summer months, with all proceeds going to the Warehouse in Africa fund, which will provide investment loans for future Income Generating Activities throughout Zimbabwe. Art order forms are available in the Art Gallery, so don’t forget to bring your checkbook to church on Sunday!
