CHRISTIANS IN THEATER ARTS (CITA) PLAY READING / Feb 19, 5:30PM

For the next 3 months, Warehouse will be partnering with CITA to bring readings of new, original plays that connect life, faith, and art to Charlotte.

Bring your own dinner and join us in the coffee room at 5:30pm on February 19, March 26, and April 30 for a meal together and time to mingle and connect. The reading will begin at 6:30, followed by a community conversation on the work facilitated by Wes Vander Lugt and Warehouse 242 Participating Member and Broadway producer Bruce Long.

The February play is So Help Me God written by W242 Participating Member Michelle Long. Here is a synopsis of the play.

When high school honor student Jennifer Reed’s history paper comes back with a poor grade due to her reference to God and her Christian worldview on the separation of church and state, her father, Kendall Reed, a prominent conservative pastor in town, confronts Ellen Franklin, four time teacher of the year and militant liberal champion of education. The confrontation sparks a debate that reaches beyond the doors of the educational institution and into the church, the town and the lives of its citizens. Even as Kendall and Ellen go head to head in the courtroom, their children find themselves strangled by the politics that have been ignited as they struggle to make sense of the consequences of standing their ground both at school and at home.  It is only when Pastor Reed finds himself at the mercy of what he has started that both sides must finally come to terms with the division they have created, and the impact it has on those around them.

2017 WOMEN’S RETREAT / March 31-Apr 2 / Early Bird Registration is OPEN

The women of Warehouse 242 will gather in the mountains March 31-April 2 at Valle Crucis Conference Center for our sixth annual spring retreat.

Join us for a weekend of spending time together exploring what it looks like to have bounty in the bleakness of life. Whether the bleakness for you is dealing with deep life disappointment, picking up the pieces after a trauma, or living in the falleness of the world and the difficulty of being a woman of God, our speaker, Ashlee Johnson, will take us through the Bible to see how God answers these questions.

Early Bird registration is now open! Register early and save some cash.

When you register, you will be required to pay a down payment of $50. If you are unable to do that, please email women@warehouse242.org to talk with someone about available scholarship assistance. We don’t want that to be a barrier to you being able to experience this event!

Also, we’ll be gathering for a couple evenings of hanging out and making items for the retreat weekend.  Anyone is welcome, even if you’re not able to attend the retreat!  Heck, even “non-crafters” are welcome if they want to hang out.

WE ARE A COMMUNITY THAT PRAYS
