Here are the details from the announcements you heard during the service on Sunday, and other news you’re looking for:

> [entrypoint] / August 1

On the first Sunday of each month, we host [entrypoint]. Join us in the coffee room after the first or second service for an informal time to become acquainted with opportunities for service and community at Warehouse. Light snacks and refreshments will be served. Childcare is provided.

> Box Tops for Bishop Spaugh

School may be out for the summer, but we are still collecting Box Tops to raise money for Bishop Spaugh Community Academy–our Camp Greene neighborhood middle school located less than 1 mile away from Warehouse. By the simple act of cutting out those easily identifiable Box Tops and bringing them to church, we have raised almost $200 for the school in less than one year. That’s $200 the school didn’t have otherwise, which they can spend on whatever they need most–from Bunsen Burners to Basketballs.

So keep bringing your Box Tops to the Serve/Engage Kiosk or the Kidz Check-in table. We will collect them year-round as an ongoing part of our practical service to our neighbors.

For a complete list of items that carry the Box Tops for Education logo, pick up a flyer at the Serve/Engage kiosk, or click here.

> Summer Movies / August 1: The Hurt Locker

We talk about movies every summer because of how pervasive they are in our cultural consciousness. They provide a painfully clear glimpse into the world around us, and they open the door to hard conversations about how God is pursuing us in all of this. We’re aware that people are talking about these movies, and that you will have the chance to enter that conversation and invite friends and co-workers into our honest talks about the films. This year’s films range from a brutally honest Oscar-winner about humanity at war to a documentary about the poetry of guitars. All of these films are laced with the culture that we live in every day.

To be clear: we’re not screening these movies inside Warehouse, and we’re not endorsing their content. In fact, we’re pretty shocked by some of what happens in these stories — but we’re aware that people are talking about them, and that you will have the chance to enter that conversation and invite friends and co-workers into our honest talks about the films.

Here are the six films we’ll be talking about in July & August:
The Hurt Locker / 2010 Oscar for Best Picture
Crazy Heart / 2010 Oscar for Best Actor
Up In the Air / Won 44 Awards & brought in $150 mil in theaters
Extract / Jason Bateman, Kristen Wiig, and Gene Simmons make a great cast
Inception / 3 Oscar winners & 142 total award nominations for the cast of this intellectual thriller
It Might Get Loud / Award-winning documentary about the best guitarists of our time

> We are a community that prays.

When here on Sunday, you’ll find people who would love to pray for you in the prayer room after each service. Or, you can fill out a prayer card and drop it in one of the yellow boxes. But during the week, you can still reach someone for prayer. Just e-mail our prayer team at prayer@warehouse242.org

> Links to videos or other media used.
> Social networking links [like Facebook and Twitter]
> Prayer request links.
> Listing of all the music and media we used, in case you want to look for it elsewhere. (to work with the “what was the name of that song? oh, and who sings it?”)
> Links to the Take It Further writing done by the TIF team.
