Here are the details from the announcements you heard during the service on Sunday, and other news you’re looking for:

> Zimbabwe Prayer Event / July 16

For the past two years, Warehouse has been intentionally exploring our role in fighting HIV/AIDS in Africa. Our prayerful pursuit led us to connect with Caiphas Ngarivhume, an inspiring visionary from Zimbabwe. Caiphas shares our belief that income generating entrepreneurial investment both preserves human dignity, and allows a nation to expand its capacity to meet the challenges of HIV/AIDS most effectively and efficiently–without long term dependence on American aid.

Many of you have asked, “What’s going on right now with Warehouse in Zimbabwe with HOPE for AIDS?” For answers, come to the next prayer event on Friday, July 16, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the arena to learn how you can pray with purpose for what’s ahead. There will be a worship set of music, along with updates from the Warehouse-Zimbabwe team, and corporate prayer in small groups.

This will be a great night to get up-to-speed on Warehouse’s partnership in Zimbabwe with SIM’s HOPE for AIDS. Those who want to learn where we are, where we are going, and discover ways to pray and get involved will not want to miss this evening. Childcare will be provided. Please e-mail service@warehouse242.org to let us know if you need childcare.

> Studio 242 / Third Tuesday / July 20

Studio is the creative core of Warehouse 242. We meet the third Tuesday of the month at the Caribou on East Blvd. For more info about Studio, check out warehouse242.org/studio

> Family Promise / July 25-August 1

There are currently 4,119 homeless students in CMS. This sobering reality is why Warehouse participates in Family Promise. Homeless children simply cannot be expected to flourish and succeed academically if they’re living under a bridge.

Simply put, Family Promise moves families from homelessness to reliable housing and independence. In the year since Warehouse first started hosting families with Family Promise, eight families have graduated, are no longer homeless, and are now in safe and stable homes.

The families have commented how much they enjoy staying at Warehouse because it is so welcoming and laid back. Our volunteers have cherished the opportunities to build relationships with these families that last beyond the week they stay here on site. Now is your opportunity to dive in.

Volunteer opportunities:
-Overnight hosts
-Move-in on Sunday afternoon
-Dinner
-Breakfast supplies
-Hosting on Saturday
-Sunday move-out
-Sunday brunch

> Summer Movie Series / Starts July 25

We talk about movies every summer because of how pervasive they are in our cultural consciousness. They provide a painfully clear glimpse into the world around us, and they open the door to hard conversations about how God is pursuing us in all of this. We’re aware that people are talking about these movies, and that you will have the chance to enter that conversation and invite friends and co-workers into our honest talks about the films. This year’s films range from a brutally honest Oscar-winner about humanity at war to a documentary about the poetry of guitars. All of these films are laced with the culture that we live in every day.

To be clear: we’re not screening these movies inside Warehouse, and we’re not endorsing their content. In fact, we’re pretty shocked by some of what happens in these stories — but we’re aware that people are talking about them, and that you will have the chance to enter that conversation and invite friends and co-workers into our honest talks about the films.

Here are the six films we’ll be talking about in July & August:
The Hurt Locker / 2010 Oscar for Best Picture
Crazy Heart / 2010 Oscar for Best Actor
Up In the Air / Won 44 Awards & brought in $150 mil in theaters
Extract / Jason Bateman, Kristen Wiig, and Gene Simmons make a great cast
Inception / 3 Oscar winners & 142 total award nominations for the cast of this intellectual thriller
It Might Get Loud / Award-winning documentary about the best guitarists of our time

> We are a community that prays.

When here on Sunday, you’ll find people who would love to pray for you in the prayer room after each service. Or, you can fill out a prayer card and drop it in one of the yellow boxes. But during the week, you can still reach someone for prayer. Just e-mail our prayer team at prayer@warehouse242.org

> Social networking links [like Facebook and Twitter]
> Prayer request links.
> Listing of all the music and media we used, in case you want to look for it elsewhere. (to work with the “what was the name of that song? oh, and who sings it?”)
> Links to the Take It Further writing done by the TIF team.
