CAMP GREENE E-NEWS: DECEMBER 2009
Shopping for the Christmas Village Toy Store
As word has spread, the demand in our neighborhood for tickets to the toy store has skyrocketed. Help us surpass our ambitious goal of 13,000 new gifts on our shelves to serve our most vulnerable neighbors. Please shop for brand name toys and before purchasing ask yourself, “Would I buy this for my own child or for a child I know?”
This is our biggest service event of the year, and everyone can contribute to its success. For gift Wish List suggestions, click here.
Making Room for Room in the Inn
The cold winter of Charlotte has descended, and the demand for winter shelter for our city’s 6,500+ homeless is at its peak. Warehouse is committed to serving as a Room in the Inn host site at least once/week through March—providing warmth, food, and shelter for our homeless neighbors. Email room@warehouse242.org to volunteer for both you and / or your small group. Winter always reminds us of Jesus’ own words—when we serve our homeless neighbors, we are in fact serving him (Matt. 25:31-46).
Family Promise Returns January 10-17
Family Promise recently celebrated the graduation of Aminta from their program. This is the second “graduate” Warehouse has had the opportunity to serve in the last 9 months! This program really does move homeless families from dependence and despair to independence and hope. To inquire about volunteer opportunities for next month, email room@warehouse242.org
Buy a Christmas Tree, Support A Better World
If you like to buy fresh Christmas trees for the holiday season, we encourage you to buy your tree at one of the following locations. The owners have committed to donate $3.00 from the sale of every tree to benefit our friends at the A Better World after school program, which serves students in the nearby Ashley Park neighborhoods.
Warehouse is built for you to dive in and engage a movement, not sit back and have spiritual pizza deliveries delivered to you. If you want to engage, here are a few places to start:
