CAMP GREENE E-NEWS: NOVEMBER 2009

Camp_Greene_Enews on November 10th, 2009 No Comments

Next Thursday, November 19, you have the opportunity to provide dinner and hospitality for our Camp Greene neighbors for a CMS Parent University workshop titled, “Building Study Skills and Avoiding Homework Headaches.” The workshop will take place in the Warehouse Arena from 6-7:30 p.m.

While Warehouse parents, teachers, and caregivers are also welcome to attend, our community has a great opportunity to serve our neighbors practically. To increase attendance, Warehouse is providing free childcare and free dinner. We’ll cover the childcare if you help with dinner. And let’s face it, our culinary community has a tasty reputation to uphold!

Warehouse has invited our three Camp Greene schools (Ashley Park Elementary, Westerly Hills Elementary, and Bishop Spaugh Middle School) because we want to serve our neighbors practically. These Parent University classes are well regarded in the community because they are relevant and helpful. Please join us in praying that at least 50 of our neighborhood parents attend.

If you would like to provide a dinner, dessert or drink item, or help with setup and/or hospitality, please e-mail service@warehouse242.org. The Digital Divide makes it very difficult to anticipate attendance with any reliable accuracy, so your willing and flexible participation is most appreciated!

Homeless Solutions This Winter

Please keep the following dates in mind as we plan for serving our homeless neighbors this winter. Due to the economic downturn, there are more homeless in Charlotte than ever before. The latest figures put that number close to 7,000 homeless men, women and children. Warehouse will once again be helping with emergency shelter through Room in the Inn, and weeklong shelter through Family Promise. Here are the upcoming dates:

Room in the Inn:
December 6, 20, 27
January 3, 17, 24, 31

Family Promise
January 10-17

To learn more about participating, e-mail room@warehouse242.org
