Basics_Engage: Week One Notes
We believe we are called to spread the Gospel. What part will you play?
basics_engage: we pursue people
These are the basic notes from the first week of the basics_engage catalytic event. All of the scripture references, as well as opportunities to follow along with the live tool can be found at warehouse live.
The Call
Proverbs 12:30
2 Thessalonians 1:8-9
We Pursue Normal People…for their sake
The Bible is the story of God’s pursuit of you
The Nominal
Matthew 7:13-14
Obstacle: I am trying to do my best to lead a decent life. Are you saying I am not a good person?
The thin veneer of Cultural Christianity can make them immune to the real thing
Lament: Why does doing my best never seem to be enough?
Why do some people seem to have what I don’t?
Big idea: Christianity is not the story of bad people becoming good,
it is the story of bound people becoming free
The Agno/Athe/Intellectual
The fool says in his heart, “there is no god.’” Psalm 14:1
Obstacle: Christianity is for backward, unintellectual people.
“You cannot believe in Christianity and science”
“Look around you –Do you see a God?”
Christianity cannot survive a realistic intellectual scrutinty.
Lament: Isn’t there more than this?
Evolution is in the 2% edge of the conversation.
Big Idea: There are clues that make a compelling argument for the existence of a personal God.
The Buffet
Acts 4:13
Obstacle: Everything is embraced, so truth becomes mushy.
“I like Jesus, he fits in nicely with my spirituality.”
Lament: How is this working for me?
We do not want people to go to Hell.
Big Idea: To believe everything is to follow nothing.
Jesus offers eternal life to those who embrace His sacrifice.
The Next Step

Warehouse is built for you to dive in and engage a movement, not sit back and have spiritual pizza deliveries delivered to you. If you want to engage, here are a few places to start:
